Drunk, Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair

My IIF* Laurie has gone and written a book!

http://www.crazyauntpurl.com/archives/2007/04/drunk_divorced.php

She is a fabulous writer and I highly recommend reading her blog from the beginning. She is honest, funny and even a little crazy. She is the best girlfriend that you wish you had, miss a ton or haven't even met yet.

Now, quit reading my crap and go read her stuff! And while you are at it, go ahead and pre order that book of hers on Amazon.

Congratulations Laurie!!!

She's not a doctor!

Hello to those of you who are just checking out my blog for the first time! Thanks to The Drunken Housewife for linking to my blog. (And if you have not checked out her writing, you should!)

I have nothing horribly insightful or smart-assed to say today. Instead, I give you this very cute tale, as relayed to me by an even cuter 3 year old this past Sunday.

Me: "Levi, what happened to your eye?"

Levi: (Right eye is in the greenish-yellow phase of black eye, and a butterfly bandage.) "I fell down on the table."

Me: "OUCH! That must have hurt!

Levi: (Nods in response)

Me: "Did your mommy fix it or did you have to go to the doctor?"

Levi: "My mommy fixed it. (Then, putting his hand up to his mouth as if to tell me a secret.) But she's not a doctor!"

Mommy was standing there for the whole conversation, necessitating the need for the aside. Apparently mommy practices medicine without a license!

Way past my bedtime

I like my sleep. I can go on as little as 3 or 4 hours. But I don't like it. I am at my best when I get 7-8 hours a night. Sometimes even 9 depending on my stress levels.

That being said, my sleep is at the mercy of the NHL for the next few weeks. NHL playoffs started tonight. Vancouver and Dallas are tied up at 4 goals each with 6:39 left in the 3rd OT.

In the regular season you only get one OT and then a shootout to decide the winner. Not in the playoffs though. Someone HAS to win. The record for most playoff OT's currently stands at a late 6th OT win by the Montreal Maroons over the Detroit Red Wings in 1936. The most recent lengthy playoff game in my memory was in 2003, when Dallas and Anaheim went 4 rounds and finally called it quits when Petr Sykora of the Stars scored the game winner 48 seconds into the 5th OT.

I love hockey. Playoff hockey in particular. It doesn't really matter how much pain I will be in tomorrow or how worthless I will be at work. Playoff hockey is once a year and it doesn't matter how many OT's we have to sit through. Playoff hockey is the hockey that I dream of all year long. And the only hockey that is worth losing sleep over.

My Computer is Big

Well, not so much my computer as the font on my computer. I can only view like 2/3 of a web page at a time as it is all so LARGE and OUT OF CONTROL.

The best part? I didn't do anything to it. I used it at work today on the LAN connection and just now am pilfering my neighbors wireless (Hi Kim!) to check email, bank statements, cell phone minutes, blah, blah, blah; and found it all to be presented Helen Keller style, in 2 inch high letters.

So, any of you smarter than me know how to make this more suitable for those of us with better than 20/2000 vision? Anybody?
